I couldn’t resist one more
Spiritualized landing at the Cat’s Cradle May 12. Still playing the oldies as this clip demonstrates. My friend Michael was at this Royal Hall gig and I had to suffer a barrage of real time updates, sending me into a jealous rage/depression. The new record has been pushed back for additional mixing(surprise!). Although the endless delays before ladies and gentleman were certainly worth it. It helped that my roommate stole an early promo though. There are review copies already sent out with a rough mix of Sweet Heart Sweet Light, sure to be quite a collector’s item

SUN ARAW - Ancient Romans/bump up 7”/ Night Gallery( with eternal tapestry)
More 2011 jams that should have had a wider audience. This dude is a psychedelic fountainhead.
Heartfelt and marbled, this album is documentation of the slow exit (the triumphal entry): moving the camera back 8 stages along the circumference of the circle to the point where the obverse is reverse, in order to celebrate the building of an edifice and then walk away from it in wisdom, gaining freedom from it.
BELONG - COMMON ERA
A wonderful record that was sadly absent from most 2011 lists. This New Orleans duo deserves your love. They also have an EP entitled Colorloss Record with severe deconstructions of 60’s psych nuggets, which is worth your time as well

The ladies of mid century BBC radiophonic are finally getting their due after all this time
npr:
Daphne Oram (1925-2003) was a pioneering electronic musician and sound engineer at the famed BBC Radiophonic Workshop. The Young Americans label has just issued a luxurious 4 LP vinyl collection drawn from Oram’s massive sound archives. “The Daphne Oram Tapes” includes 46 tracks, a total of 2.5 hours of previously unreleased material. And this is just volume one! (via Electronic pioneer Daphne Oram recordings now available - Boing Boing)
